Wildfires destroy thousands of homes and communities across Southern California. WELL/BEINGS Co-Founder, Amanda Hearst Rønning shares her experience.

So many pets were left lost and displaced as families rushed home to rescue them, only to be turned away as the fires raged, making it too dangerous to return to their neighborhood.

WELL/BEINGS CO-FOUNDER, AMANDA HEARST RøNNING SHARES HER ACCOUNT OF EVACUATING FROM THE L.a. FIRES

The past few days have been devastating. On Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, my family and I had to flee our home in the Palisades with nothing but the clothes on our backs. The fires spread so quickly and grew so monstrous that all we could think of was escaping our neighborhood to safety, as flames consumed every side of the streets around us.

We don’t know what has survived the fire, but we are so grateful to be safe and together. There are countless people, families, and animals that are still in danger, who have lost everything - and my heart breaks for them all.

Winds were up to 100 mph and flames could be seen fifty, sixty, seventy feet high.

So we at @wellbeingscharity have identified 2 non-profits that we hope you will join us in supporting:

1. @pasadenahumane which has taken in over 500 burned, injured, and displaced animals at this time. There are more being rescued and dropped off by their humans who don’t have any home at this time. Pasadena Humane are in desperate need of money to buy food + medical supplies to care for this massive intake of animals, many of which are hurt, burned, suffering from smoke inhalation and more.

2. @cafirefound which provides both immediate and long term relief and aid to victims of the fires, including the women and men fighting the fires and their families. Unfortunately, so many of the firefighters who have been working tirelessly to put out the fires across Southern California have also lost their homes. California Fire Foundation is there to help in so many ways.

You can find their links in my Instagram bio or you can donate directly through WELL/BEINGS website and just add a note that your donation is for the L.A. fires. (And, just a reminder that 100% of your donation foes back to our program partners always.) 🙏🏼

Please stay safe and thank you all for the support and love ❤️ - Amanda
