Senda Verde Emergency Relief Fund

As you know, Well Beings celebrates and advocates for the interconnection between animals, the planet, and people. With this mission in mind, we recently travelled to the Bolivian Amazon, where, last year, 13.1 million acres of crucial forest were destroyed. The trip informed our 2020 campaign on our plan to support economic, social and environmental solutions that will preserve the Amazon, and help the communities and hundreds of species living in it.

Unfortunately, the week that we planned to announce our campaign, COVID-19 escalated into a global crisis. We asked ourselves how Well Beings might continue with our 2020 campaign, while also immediately helping communities affected by the crisis.

That’s why, beginning today, we are launching our 2020 BOLIVIA DEFORESTATION CAMPAIGN with a focus on helping one of our partner organizations, Senda Verde Wildlife Sanctuary. This incredible refuge is home to more than 800 wild animals and, as the largest animal sanctuary in Bolivia, is a safe haven for more than 64 different native species including monkeys, jaguars, pumas, bears, and macaws.

Because of the COVID-19 crisis, Senda Verde Wildlife Sanctuary was forced into quarantine by the Bolivian government on March 16th. Now, stranded without the income from visitors or a full staff of volunteers, Senda Verde will run out of food for the animals it shelters in less than two weeks. The need to feed these animals will continue as long as the quarantine lasts.

In response, Well Beings has created the Senda Verde Emergency COVID-19 Relief Fund.

You can help feed these amazing animals by donating and spreading the word! One hundred percent of your donation will go to the sanctuary, and thanks to the generosity of a few Well Beings donors, every single dollar you donate will be MATCHED! This private donor match will help us reach the $800 a day that it will cost to feed and care for all the animals at Senda Verde during the next few months.

We’re excited to introduce you to the animals you’ll be saving at Senda Verde. To start, please meet Olmo, an incredibly cute baby howler monkey whose mother was killed by wildlife traffickers. Your donation of just $25 can help feed Olmo for a week!

We’ll continue to share videos and updates of Olmo and other Senda Verde rescue animals on our website, Facebook, and Instagram. We’ll also continue to share details about our ongoing 2020 BOLIVIAN DEFORESTATION CAMPAIGN and why this work is crucial in our interconnected world.

We wish each of you wellness and well-being during these scary and uncertain times. We believe that together we can make a difference, and we hope that you will join us.
